Blues and Makos

Step into their realm

Out beyond the coastline of Baja, in the deep, clear blue, two of the ocean’s most graceful hunters patrol the open water—the sleek, electric-blue Blue Shark and the lightning-fast Mako.

From late summer into fall, these curious and captivating predators move through the rich offshore waters of the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean. Join Baja Odyssey for a rare chance to share the water with them in their element.

Slip quietly over the side and find yourself face-to-face with a blue shark’s curious gaze or the sudden flash of a mako’s silver flank. These are elegant, intelligent animals—built for speed, designed for the hunt, and surprisingly calm in the presence of respectful visitors.
Expect long, immersive days at sea, with plenty of time to observe, photograph, and connect with these sharks on their terms. As part of the expedition, a professional photography workshop is included—designed to help you capture these breathtaking moments, whether you’re a seasoned shooter or picking up a camera for the first time.

In between encounters, keep your eyes open for other pelagic visitors— pods of dolphins, sea turtles, curious whales or even a passing pod of Orca.

This is a freediving and snorkeling expedition designed for small groups, ensuring space, comfort, and a truly personal connection with the ocean. Whether you’re an experienced diver or a passionate ocean lover, Blues & Makos is an unforgettable chance to step into the open ocean and meet two of its most extraordinary residents.
